Developer's Recycling Program Up and Running in Kallangur and Narangba
Friday 22 May 2009
Heritage Pacific’s two key developments in Kallangur and Narangba now have another string to add to their environmentally sustainable bow with the release of figures showing the company is recovering up to 75% of the waste generated from onsite housing construction.
The target set by Heritage Pacific was originally 70%, however the latest figures show an increase of 5% making the total recyclable amount 75%.
The two projects involved in the recycling program are Bridgeway in Kallangur and award winning community, Forest Ridge in Narangba.
Forest Ridge Project Manager, Jeremy Bell said he was pleased with the results and with a strong emphasis on sustainability at Forest Ridge and Bridgeway it is another milestone reached during the development of the communities.
“The materials we send away in skip bins from our sites include bricks and pavers, concrete, earth and soil, glass and plastic.”
“With this in mind, we have made a decision to increase our target to 90% in the next 12 months.”
“We have the ability to move remaining materials from one house over to the next house to minimise our wastage and this will further enhance the level of recycling we achieve compared to traditional builders,”.
“I believe the proof of Heritage Pacific’s commitment to the environment is clear with pro-active initiatives throughout their developments.
“We continue to strive to lead the industry and as such were one of the first developers in Queensland to embrace the sustainability principles providing our homes with water tanks, energy efficient lighting and water saving devices before it was a legislative requirement,” Mr Bell said.
Heritage Pacific continues to be a leader in the use of environmental initiatives in all of their developments.
Bridgeway homes start at $374,900 with Forest Ridge homes from $384,900.
Larger land is also available at Forest Ridge from $212,900.
Heritage Pacific is a leading environmental developer in QLD and currently holds industry awards for Queensland’s Best Masterplanned Development from the UDIA and the Property Council of Australia’s Best Residential Development in 2008.
Since 1987, Heritage Pacific has welcomed more than 10,000 families to over 25 communities throughout South-East Queensland and has established one of the country’s fastest-growing home-building businesses.
Heritage Pacific has also developed a portfolio of commercial and retail assets valued at more than $350 million and built an established funds management business.
